Usually my Travel
Blog has been used as a Journal to blog my experiences and adventures
during my journeys to other countries! But realize there are other
experiences & adventures I encounter while not traveling that would be
just as cool to save for reading in a couple years! Hell had been posting them
on FB but thought why not post these adventures on this Travel Blog as they are
just as interesting adventures which I’d like to retain for future reading! LOL
Well returned in April 2013 from my latest trip traveling to SE Asia for 4 months & had a few cool experiences & adventures during the summer!
So just after returning from my travels at the start of May went on a short road trip to Armstrong to visit friends who hadn’t seen for a few years! Hell he grew up with them in Edmonton as the company he worked for transferred him from Edmonton to this little village of Armstrong in the Okanagon area of BC!

Hell he grew up with them in Edmonton as the company he worked for transferred him from Edmonton to this little village of Armstrong in the Okanagon area of BC!
http://www.canadalegal.info/prov-bc/lawyers-kelowna-vernon/okanagan-bc-map-cities.html which maybe can be better viewed using the larger map of http://www.ourbc.com/bc_maps.htm !
Then a couple yrs later this company went belly up leaving him without a job
(she still had hers) and hell Armstrong being a small village there was
little opportunities for work in the village! Then a guy in the village asked
if he wanted to drive a taxi the Dude owned in Armstrong! What was cool about
that gig is that his taxi is the only taxi in town well actually there’s only one taxi vehicle! So his passengers call him at home to ask for a taxi ride or
whatever! Most of them need to be driven to and from the bar, have him pick
up a case of beer for them, a little old lady needs a ride to the doctor, etc!
Most of the peep in that village are retired, elderly, on welfare or Natives
on the reserve in Enderby another village nearby. So most don’t mind spending $$
for a taxi ride as the distances are close but they all tip well so he makes
good cash for driving the cab! The downside is he’s on call 6 days a week (he
doesn’t drive on Sun) as he hasn’t got a back up driver for himself! Shit had
never been to Armstrong but found the little town as kind of homely and nice to
visit but kind of find the place a little too quiet for moi!
Also made it to Armstrong 2 more times during the summer as went there when was hoping to go further east in BC a month later as went with a friend to Summerland and then took a back road part way back to Vancouver! Then went thru Armstrong later in the summer when I did a 2 week road trip thru BC but more on that later in this posting! The reason I kept returning to Armstrong was they have a cheese factory which makes some awesome bbq salmon cheese which is to die for cuz it tastes just like bbq salmon so it’s awesome with crackers & beer not that I drink a lot of beer! Also will be returning to that area to camp next summer or whenever as there is still a drive in movie theater in Enderby the little village next door which would be cool to see a movie while camping in the area!

Then in early July
a family member who lives in Abu Dhabi got married there to an English dude & they had
a wedding party in Abu Dhabi for her friends there! Then in early July had one
in Vancouver, Edmonton, London and in a small village in England! So I enjoyed
a wedding party in Vancouver and traveled to Edmonton to celebrate a party
there with family & friends!
Guess U could feel
sorry for me cuz I grew up in Edmonton & still have family and friends
there so go back about once a year as always enjoy going there! But after this
trip I’ve started to realize that Edmonton is a shitty place to live cuz
during the summer they have a lot of heavy rain with strong winds, lightening
& thunderstorms so the whole city gets flooded! Then shit after these
storms the giant mosquitos attack like it was World War III which is one of
the reasons I left that place! The other being the -30 to -40 degree
temperatures during the winter! Yeah I know that most peep say at least it’s
sunny during these periods while it’s pretty much cloudy and rainy in
Vancouver at that time! But shit at least in Vancouver it’s warm and doesn’t rain all the
time so I can go for bike rides, run, walk and do things cuz the rain comes
straight down as it isn’t windy!!!
One good thing
about the wedding parties was got to hang out with my daughter in Abu Dhabi & son
who lives in Eastern Canada! He hurt his knee so we couldn’t do any strenuous
hikes but we enjoyed hanging out and going for bike rides! Plus made it out to the beach & eat a few times tho eating out in restaurants aren’t what I usually make a
practices of doing!
But shit in my
Journey thru Life can never look after my money & other valuables as always
seem to give them away to some idiot Drifter who feel needs it more than moi!!
But f*ck according to my Mom well guess when my Dad worked as a fisherman he
used to give away most of the fish he caught to peep he met who had sob stories!!
So guess being a sucker runs in the genes! LOL
But like Winston
Churchill said " We make a living by what we get but we make a life by
what we give"!!
So it all works
out cuz can't take it with me so been building up my contacts so when I'm
broke, down & out well know where to can get free meals (Sikh & Hindu temples) & free places to sleep (Buddist temples) or cheap places
to stay & exist cuz have made friends with people who've bin dar dun
dat & lived on the street! So when not living like a Bum roaming the
World well been building up my contacts & references for that time so
can exist Insha'allah!!
So hell my friends
and I like to get free meals in the area as went to the Sikh Temple a lot
during the summer which is served every day as part of their religion! http://www.yelp.ca/biz/akali-singh-sikh-temple-vancouver So would go there with friends about 2 or 3 times a week! The funny thing was there were both
guys and chicks that went with us to the temple as we sat together but we found out
later that guys were suppose to sit at one table and chicks at another! lol
Then on Sun we could head to the Hindu Temple however it was always busy there
so don’t go there very often!!! There’s also a Government assistance office on
Fraser & 16 Ave which offers free breakfasts on Mon, Wed & Fri
between 10 & 10:30 am! There’s also free meals at the back of the Glad
Tiding Church on the east side of Fraser & 20 Ave in Vancouver! So
tried these places for meals as love freebies!!! http://citycaucus.com/2012/04/crazy-for-fraser-street/http://citycaucus.com/2012/04/crazy-for-fraser-street/
The summer also
was kind of sad as a good friend moved away to work in another place so
helped them get ready for their move! http://www.letstalkrelations.com/why-do-we-miss-someone.html http://www.letstalkrelations.com/why-do-we-miss-someone.html But in their place another friend moved back to Vancouver in fact into the East
Van area about a dozen blocks from my place which is cool as we hang out a lot
since they will be attending UBC for the next couple years!! Then the news of
what was happening in Syria was a bit of a downer cuz it makes me kinda sad about what is
happening in Syria cuz it's actually a beautiful country to visit!
Also had an
awesome time hanging out at a few festivals and one of the most enjoyable for
me was the Salish Summer Soltice Festival! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eDtqTpJp_w
and the Japanese Powell Street festival but more about that further in this
posting! http://www.powellstreetfestival.com/
The weather during
the summer was one of the best that can recall in years as it hardly rained so had an
awesome time hanging out which is one reason didn’t work too much! On the Aug
long weekend f*ckin chased summer with a crazy wicked summer long weekend!l
Fri night got back
from hanging out on Van Island !
Sat night got
totally wasted at a Reggae Concert (what else whenlistening 2
Reggae? lol). Then to Lucy's All Night Diner for awesome homemade tomato
soup! Topped off with delicious blueberry pie & soft ice cream!! Their
homemade soft ice cream fukin rocks as its 2 die for cuz U'll think U died
& went 2 Heaven (espec when smokin lol)!! Friend had soup, all day
& night breakfast topped off with a ton of soft ice cream & peanut
butter- which is f*ckin awesome!! Hell didn't finish until well past 3 am but was fukin
well worth it!!
Sunday pigged out
(U guessed it) at Japanese Powell Street festival! Then rode bikes for Gelato
& around seawall! But had to stop to watch sunset (where else but
Sunset Beach)!! Then idiot me brought out my weed & guess my friend
(newbie smoker) felt comfortable enuf around moi 2 try some too! So after a
toke or 2 my friend realized was too wrecked 2 ride so had to walk bike till
got shit together to ride but never happen lol. Hell my fave way to bike is
stoned listening 2 music lol but joined friend to walk bikes for ever 2 take a
bus after stopping 4 a munchie break!! So fuk didnt get back 2 my place till well past midnight then more munchies & ended crashing my place 4 the duration!
Monday we wanted
to head 2 Wreck Beach but fuk slept till afternoon & then was too much
hassle 2 get there so went to 3rd Beach instead around 5 to hang for sunset!
LOL
Kinda thought of
heading to Shambhala Music Festival http://www.shambhalamusicfestival.com/ but fuk dislike the 9 hr drive to mtns of
eastern BC each way! Anyway fuk couldnt get my shit together to appl to work
there 4 free entrance like in past cuz who fuk wants 2 pay $300.00 to get in!
So shit will prob take my time, weed & head to Nelson & then
further east 2 meet bro to camp 4 a week or so!
Hell its tough
searching 4 work!! So enjoying summer instead & to cheap out to save $ so
can head to South Africa 4 a while well have to camp & ride my bike!!
But did have an
opportunity to do some work helping a friend with their company/work but hey
since I left my IT job well got to enjoy the good life of just chilling and
hanging out enjoying my Life while doing a lot of traveling when can afford it!
So like I mentioned was going to
work at the Shambhala Music festival as I’ve done in the past but didn’t want to hurry to go to the
festival as would have to be there the day after the Aug long weekend!
So instead of
going to the Shambhala Music festival I went on a 2 week road trip thru BC! I
checked out a Rainbow Gathering & Dumpster Diving in Nelson area
of Kootenays in BC while Blazing & Driving the Back Roads on an Awesome
Road Trip around Amazing BC for a couple weeks – just camping & messing
around!!
Picked up an Israeli
hitch hiking to the Rainbow Gathering so while driving & smoking
decided to check out the Gathering/Festival near Slocan in Kootenays which had
initially been set to happen on northern Vancouver Island
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/08/10/rainbow-gathering-raft-cove_n_3737481.html but was switched to the Kootenays http://worldrainbowgathering.org/.
Met
some cool peep from all over world & interesting Native/Indigenious people
http://www.google.ca/search?noj=1&site=webhp&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=cfUoUsl75_OJAoaXgdAF&ved=0CCwQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=542&q=images%20of%20native%20people%20in%20Canada
Also met some cool hippie types as learned about nature
& environmental stuff http://www.oilspillsolutions.co.uk/tag/slocan-river/
Then spent couple
days in Nelson in Kootenays
as some peep wanted to get some food Dumpster Diving to help peep out at
Rainbow Gathering)!! http://www.google.ca/search?q=lake+koocanusa&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=7WQdUtyfF-H5igKuhoBA&sqi=2&ved=0CEMQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=542#fp=fc59f32c1b8e751e&q=dumpster+diving+food&tbm=isch
or as this shows:
(had already taken the longest free ferry across KootenayLake http://www.google.ca/search?q=images+of+free+ferry+across+kootenay+lake+bc&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=RP4oUuPMEMmQiAKk2IDQCA&ved=0CCoQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=542)
Then took some back roads across the Monashee Pass http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monashee_Pass to get to Armstrong to see a couple of friends! Then met other friends near
Shuswap & then drove on back roads to the Yellowhead Hwy to Little Fort
& west on back roads to 100 Mile House http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Columbia_Highway_24 to go down the Cariboo Hwy to Clinton to take back road over mtn to Mt Currie
to camp near Hot Springs!
Then got held up all day for an Ironman Race from Pemberton to Whistler! But made it to Squamish to camp before heading back home to East Van!
Wow the weather
& countryside were just beautiful!! But what was even more beautiful
was out of cell phone range for a couple weeks!!
Realized chillin
with some Native peep made this Trip as amazing as any Trip Over Seas!!! But
will find out in Oct as hope to head to the southern part of Africa &
will prob hang with some Indigenous Africans for a while!!

F*CK ONLY IN
VANCOUVER CAN u GET A $250 TICKET FOR SMOKING ON THE BEACH!!! But hell NOT for
smoking Weed but just for smoking – tho of course we’re smoking weed cuz after
all we are in Vansterdam!!!
Cuz hell in any
other part of the world this person would have got busted instead for smoking
Weed on the beach – NOT just for smoking! But in Vancouver they don’t care if
U’r smoking Weed, Hash, Opium, Crack, etc as U’ll get busted just for inhaling
shit as they’re trying to reduce smoking in public like on beaches & parks!!
Hell felt bad as
had just passed a joint to this chick who was about to have a toke when the
Park Ranger came along & busted her!! But sure glad it was her not me cuz just got a $167 ticket 4 forgetting to put on my seat
belt, a $107 ticket for not changing the address on my driver’s licence
& just b4 that got a $196 ticket for having my front licence plate
sitting on the dash not attached to the truck!! Duh so no wonder having trouble
saving $$ to travel again!!!
But at least in
all my travels and journeys I find that I drink less and prob smoke a little
more than most peep! Sure glad don’t drink too much especially when I came
across a video showing how stupid a person looks when they drink too much!!
So I’m hoping that
my next journey thru BC will take me thru more northern BC up to Prince Rupert
and maybe to Haida Gwaii as a friend is driving to Prince Rupert in Sept so
hope to join them to split the cost but really want to see Haidi Gwaii but time will tell if I get there insha’allah http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haida_Gwaii
Hope to buy a ticket to the southern
part of Africa (South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland, Losetho, Zimbabwe, Malawi) https://www.google.ca/search?q=map+of+south+africa+countries&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=CbdNUsfsDuHqiQLmhoDgBw&ved=0CCwQsAQ&biw=1218&bih=635&dpr=1 & the island of Madagascar http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/africa/mg.htm as have always wanted to see the countries there
but have never got past the countries in the north as something always seem to come up! So
yeah hope to be going this fall & winter for a while! insha’allah
