Going to South Africa, Madagascar & a couple other countries in southern Africa! So did a little research mainly to South Africa bcuz always been really intrigued to see the country of Nelson Mandela & the downfall of Apartheid!!!!!

Cuz to me like most peep I believe that Nelson Mandela is the so called Father of South Africa who spent his entire life fighting segregation & Apartheid!!!

So got to wonder as want to see if racism and apartheid still exists in South Africa!!

So as quoted from a former S. African “Returning to South Africa, I am always confronted by the extent to which this is a country of such stark contradictions.

“First world- Third World” Is a common phrase often mentioned, in a tone of nonchalant acceptance. On the one side elaborate hotels and grandiose residences share the same vicinity as tin roofed slums; while people beg weaving through the panoply of  Mercedes CLKs and 4 by 4’s.

Since the two years that I last visited, there have been visible changes- new airports and international conference centres and stadiums to cater for last year’s much anticipated and symbolic World Cup. South Africa is a country keen to exonerate itself of its not so distant apartheid past.

Road signs have been assiduously changed from the Afrikaans names of the architects of apartheid to the now African names synonymous with its demise. However, although the institutions, structures and laws have changed, alarmingly remnants of colour consciousness still exist.

Watching a common national lifestyle television programme, a presenter is shown around the ostentatious home of Sorisha Naidoo- a former Asian beauty queen and now part of the bourgeoisie and highest echelon of society. She made a successful business out of selling “Pure Perfect”- a skin lightening cream. Apparently the 32 year old looks objectively paler in recent years, a phenomenon she seems eager to exhibit and market to others, but that I and many others find offensive and disgraceful.

Absurdly, clients can either chose the Pure Perfect Cream “that will lift as much as 2-4 shades” or  the Pure Perfect Parfait a gel-based moisturiser that will lift as much as “4-7 shades or as much as your body will allow”.

Alas, the archaic practice of skin bleaching has existed for centuries and I am aware that such practices are still commonplace in Pakistan and India. However, I expected more of South Africans; that they would not fall prey to such explicit messages that equates whiteness with beauty.
Perhaps what is more upsetting is not that such products exist in the first place and are readily available but that they are condoned and not boycotted like they ought to be- Further reinforcement that those of us of colour are somewhat lesser beings.

There can be a myriad of structural changes; names of roads can be changed for miles across the country, but there has to be something else.

Mindsets have to change, and people of colour need to somehow reconcile their own insecurities of their oppressed colonial past with how they wish to be perceived positively in the future.

Madagascar

Human Rights
By developing country standards, Madagascar has a moderately good human rights record. However, numerous human rights violations, largely committed during the Ratsiraka regime, have caused concern among international humanitarian agencies. In the late 1970s, the government enacted a law concerning Information against X for Plotting and Attack State Security under which anyone can be arrested without warrant and held indefinitely without trial. The law also enables the security forces to arrest, search, or seize property. Under the French penal code, arrest is limited to forty-eight hours, but in Madagascar the arrest time is extended to fifteen days and is renewable indefinitely. The authorities never release information about the status of the detainees who often are real or suspected opponents of Ratsiraka. Many individuals in custody are beaten, tortured, or deprived of medical care.

Apart from s few these and similar incidents, Madagascar has taken some steps to improve its human rights record. In December 1990, the government abolished press censorship; by mid1991 , the state-owned Malagasy Radio-Television allowed opposition figures to appear on a weekly discussion program. - See more at: http://www.wildmadagascar.org/overview/loc/54-human_rights.html#sthash.PEqpgoOY.dpuf

Human Rights Context
The political situation in Madagascar has been characterised by violent unrest and struggles for power since the country gained independence in 1960. In January 2009, many people died as a result of violence that took place in Antananarivo and elsewhere in the country and more than 25 people were reported to have been killed on 7 February 2009 when security forces fired on a gathering of protestors outside one of the country’s presidential palaces. The protest was staged by supporters of the then elected mayor of Antananarivo, Mr. Andry Rajoelina, who had declared an intention to overthrow the government. In March 2009, President Marc Ravalomanana fled the country in the midst of a popular uprising and power was conferred to Mr Rajoelina, who is now President of the transitional government in power. Demonstrations have been held intermittently by the ex-President Ravalomanana’s supporters to show disapproval.
The instability of Madagascar’s political situation has resulted in an economic downturn in the country and international donors have been reluctant to continue with development aid, amid insecurities of how the money will be spent. However, the `Feuille de route` or ‘the roadmap’, was signed on 16 September 2012, essentially an agreement between parties to the political dispute, to work towards the holding of democratic elections in 2012. OHCHR will offer support to the Government in re-establishing a democratic system of governance and ensuring that the human rights of the Malagasy people are observed.

Madagascar is among the world's poorest countries. As such, people's day-to-day survival is dependent upon natural resource use. Most Malagasy never have an option to become doctors, sports stars, factory workers, or secretaries; they must live off the land that surrounds them, making use of whatever resources they can find. Their poverty costs the country and the world through the loss of the island's endemic biodiversity.

Madagascar's major environmental problems include:
Overexploitation of living resources including hunting and over-collection of species from the wild.

We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Madagascar at this time due to the unpredictable political situation.
Pay close attention to your personal security at all times and monitor the media and other local sources of information about possible new safety or security risks.
Political tensions remain and the security situation could deteriorate without warning. See Safety and security: Civil unrest / political tension for more information.
Australians should avoid all protests and demonstrations as they may turn violent. In 2012, protests and riots occurred in central Antananarivo and near the airport.

Cyclone season is November to April. See the Natural Disasters, Severe Weather and Climate section below for more detailed advice.

Security and Safety
The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to Andohahela National Park and against all travel on road RN13 between Ambovombe and Ihosy. Take great care and follow local advice if you are travelling in the south east of the country. See Local Travel
In 2012 there were around 7,700 British visitors to Madagascar. Most visits are trouble free.
There has been continued political instability in Madagascar since January 2009. The situation in the centre of Antananarivo remains volatile and demonstrations at short notice are likely. You should keep away from crowded areas and avoid going out at night in the centre of the capital. See Local travel and Political situation
There is a low threat from terrorism. See Terrorism
There is widespread crime in Madagascar. Take particular care on beaches where there have been attacks and robberies. See Crime and Local travel
Visitors to Madagascar should travel with established organisations or travel firms who have the capacity to monitor the local media and warn of possible trouble. Remain vigilant and maintain a low profile while moving around the country, in particular if travelling alone. If travelling independently we advise that you monitor the local media closely and keep abreast of the situation for the duration of your visit. See Local Travel
The cyclone season in Madagascar normally runs from November to April. Coastal areas are particularly affected. See Natural Disasters
Piracy is a significant threat in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean, and has occurred in excess of 1,000 nautical miles from the coast of Somalia.

Mozambique

Mozambique 2012 OSAC Crime and Safety Report
Overall Crime and Safety
Mozambique is a developing country in southern Africa which has been steadily rebuilding its economy and civic institutions since ending a 16-year civil war in 1992.  The country stabilized following Mozambique's first multi-party elections in October 1994, and the current president was reelected in October 2009.  Despite high economic growth rates in recent years, Mozambique remains among the world's poorest countries, with a GDP per capita of $440.  Facilities for tourism in Maputo, the capital city, are steadily improving but remain limited in other areas as many of the goods and services taken for granted in other countries are not yet available.  The official language is Portuguese, although English is spoken in many tourist areas, and in some rural areas only local languages are widely spoken.

The number of violent crimes in Mozambique is comparable to most other African countries.  The chances of being victimized by crime in Mozambique are approximately the same as in most major U.S. cities.  In Mozambique, the assailants often use forceful tactics, operate in semi-organized groups, and carry crude weapons to facilitate their activities, increasing the possibility of physical harm.  As is common in most developing countries, expatriates are frequent targets due to their perceived wealth.  Therefore, it is essential that visitors to Mozambique maintain heightened awareness and take the necessary security precautions.

The majority of crimes against Americans are non-violent confrontations characterized as crimes of opportunity (i.e., pick pocketing, theft of unattended possessions in public places or hotel rooms, and bag snatching).
Narco-trafficking in Mozambique is an increasing problem.  Porous borders, coupled with endemic poverty and its proximity to South African markets makes Mozambique vulnerable to organized criminal elements.  Narco-trafficking and human smuggling represents a growing threat to stability and security in Mozambique and the region.

Discrimination & Racism encountered by Aboriginal, Native, Blacks & Asians in some capacity!!!

Many peep think I'm Aboriginal or Native of whatever country I'm traveling which of course I'm NOT (but if I was hell I'd be proud of it) but shit I'm just a dorky douchebag visible minority! Who's so friggin dense that can't recall ever experiencing racism or discrimination & even if I did wtf can U do? Cuz if U look hard enuf everyone faces prejudice in one form or another! So suck it up princess & play with the hand God dealt U instead of blaming it for U'r problems or short comings!

But having said that fuk I still can't help feeling sorry for the way these peep are treated as can be seen in this video! But hell this same attitude in these videos is also applied to Aboriginal, Native & Black peep in every country or place!

Heck Black people have had a long history of racism so looking forward to my upcoming trip to South Africa and neighboring countries to get a bit of insight on the struggles of the black people in their fight against Racism & before that Apartheid! Cuz to me 2 of the most influencial people in history of fighting discrimination and racism lived in South Africa!!!!!!

Cuz like most peep I believe that Nelson Mandela is the so called Father of South Africa as he spent his entire life fighting segregation & Apartheid!!!

http://www.nelsonmandelas.com/apartheid.php

Documentary of Nelson Mandela's Life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVsSERblOqc

Also have to include Mahatma Gandhi. considered the father of the Indian independence movement, who spent twenty years in South Africa working to fight discrimination.

http://history1900s.about.com/od/people/a/gandhi.htm

But now about 20 years after Apartheid would be cool to see if racism and apartheid still exist in South Africa!!

http://www.crestedjournal.com/south-africa-does-race-segregation-still-exist

So yeah but guess there will always be some form of discrimination and racism in all people!

WTF is happening in Syria and neighboring countries over alleged Chemical gassing Aug/Sept 2013

It really bothers me a lot if the Syrian peep are being gassed http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/09/06/nun-in-syria-claims-she-has-evidence-proving-video-footage-of-chemical-attack-was-fabricated/ but is the alternative any better if the US bombs Syria as punishment? Cuz if not mistaken but believe Muslim radical terrorists (Al Qaeda & Taliban) are waiting in the wings to get a bigger foothold in Syria & other countries as is witnessed by what is happening in Syria! It seems the civil war happening has radical Muslims and Taliban involved  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taliban  in helping the Rebels fight the government in Syria! http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/14/syria-conflict-pakistani-taliban-support  Hell they’re the Rebels that Assad’s Regime is fighting so Obama (really like the guy) but dude Ur in a No Win situation!!! Which may be why the US, England and France plus other less vocal countries are debating over what to do in Syria regardless whether the Assad government has gassed their peep or Rebels as has been stated! Plus man Russia, China, Iran may side with Assad so fuk this smells like maybe it may escalate into something a lot bigger as happened before World War 1!!

Hell it makes me kinda sad when see what’s been happening in Syria cuz it's truly a beautiful country & their peep are so friendly & kind! Hell when took bus from Beruit to Damascus a Syrian got off the bus to helped me find the guesthouse was planning to stay & wouldn’t take any cash for helping me, another dude found some cash left in my pocket while washing my clothes & returned it tho told him to keep it but he wouldn’t!! So even tho shown this before hell cant help but want to share the beauty of Syria when went there in 2010 as U can see in these pictures!

So wrote on FB that it's difficult to know exactly what to believe when see shit the media broadcasts like the Media staging false broadcasts to get the Public swayed to their way of thinking!!
Which got me to think what a Croc of Shit the fuckin media feeds the world!!! Meantime during most skirmishes the poor fuckin military get sucked into putting their ass on the line for what - a bunch of staged bull shit to hype & sway the idiot public????? Fuck our countries make me laugh as don't even fuckin talk about Arab & Communism propaganda cuz fuck is the Western Countries slimy media any better or different??

But hell know most soldiers don't give one sweet fuck about politics but put their ass on the line for their buddies fighting next to them, the adrenaline rush & a lot now do it for the bonuses pay for oversea tours of duty!!! They don't really fuckin care or even want to debate the reason(s) & which countries are involved cuz would prob just piss them off!! So fuck the bull shit Patriotism our countries try to drill into us (wake up U idiot Americans espec., Canadians, English, Syrians, Iraqis, Afghans, etc. U'r fuckin getting taken in by what???)!! Shit figure the soldiers should get their shit together - get their countries to trained them & then say fuck U assholes & the countries involved & side with whoever the fuck puts the most cash on the table (sad to get money involved but.... wtf seems the only thing the public & World understands espec the slime ball Politicians (the fuckin assholes as send those jerks to the front line with their bag of cash!) who are just in it to get rich like the greedy friggn Senators in Canada!!) & that's coming from someone who fuckin cares dick all about money, patriotism & violence cuz fuck in My World just love enjoying Life, roaming the World traveling & doing fuck all until the Big Guy Upstairs comes a calling!!!!! Sorry for being so pissed & vocal but fuck this just ........

Although I don't like the idea of the western media feeding us bullshit or staging incidents to sway the general public but I also think that there are other countries having political problems like is happening in Mali & Mauritania in West Africa! Cuz it seems that the Al Qaeda is involved in northern Mali.

As of July 2012, Timbuktuku, Mali is in the hands of Islamist rebels who captured the city from a secular rebel group in June. Most of the area's population has fled to non-rebel controlled areas of Mali or Niger. The rebels have imposed sharia law, which includes mandatory veils for women, the stoning of adulterers, and punitive "amputations" for thieves. The rebels have called for the destruction of all of the city's shrines, which they believe to be a form of idolatry banned by Islam. It appears most, if not all, of the shrines have been destroyed. More information can be found in the warning at the top of the Mali page. Even before the city was capture by rebels, the city was not very safe. Timbuktu lies precariously close to the desert areas where al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) have roamed freely and kidnapped many Westerners in the last few years. In November 2011, this reality finally struck home when 3 Western tourists were abducted (and a 4th killed while resisting) from a Timbuktu hotel in broad daylight!! Travel to Timbuktu should absolutely not be considered at the moment and travelers should follow the advice of your embassy. (Updated July 2012)

Bcuz to me Mali and Mauritania are just hot dusty countries but safe and easy to get around with no problems (at least Mali but Mauritania was a but sketchy) when I visited them in 2010!

When I hear or read about the sketchy asshole Media staging incidents I'm not really sure what is actually or staged! So I try to read articles from 3 or 4 sources from different countries not just from US!!!!!!
But regardless really anti War & Violence as figure maybe the US should use the $$$$$$$ they spend on Missiles & Weapons to Clean up & Police (Detroit) their own country and Not the World!!!!!

During the past years of 2012 & 2013 some things have been happening in Syria & some other countries that has disturbed me cuz those countries were truly nice to see and visit so couldn’t believe the Shit that has been happening!!

May be mistaken but I'm wondering if Muslim terrorists are getting a foothold in different countries as is witnessed by what is happening in Syria! Which may be why the US, England and France plus other less vocal countries are debating over what to do in Syria regardless whether the Assad government had gassed their peep or Rebels as has been stated!

Cuz it made me kinda sad when I see what was been happening in Syria cuz it's really a beautiful country & peep to met when went there in 2010 as U can see in the pictures I took in Syria!

In between trips overseas pretty much spend my time just enjoying Life to the max like while traveling as did between April and Sept during the summer of 2013!

Usually my Travel Blog has been used as a Journal to blog my experiences and adventures during my journeys to other countries! But realize there are other experiences & adventures I encounter while not traveling that would be just as cool to save for reading in a couple years! Hell had been posting them on FB but thought why not post these adventures on this Travel Blog as they are just as interesting adventures which I’d like to retain for future reading! LOL

Well returned in April 2013 from my latest trip traveling to SE Asia for 4 months & had a few cool experiences & adventures during the summer!

So just after returning from my travels at the start of May went on a short road trip to Armstrong to visit friends who hadn’t seen for a few years! Hell he grew up with them in Edmonton as the company he worked for transferred him from Edmonton to this little village of Armstrong in the Okanagon area of BC!
http://www.canadalegal.info/prov-bc/lawyers-kelowna-vernon/okanagan-bc-map-cities.html which maybe can be better viewed using the larger map of http://www.ourbc.com/bc_maps.htm ! Then a couple yrs later this company went belly up leaving him without a job (she still had hers) and hell Armstrong being a small village there was little opportunities for work in the village! Then a guy in the village asked if he wanted to drive a taxi the Dude owned in Armstrong! What was cool about that gig is that his taxi is the only taxi in town well actually there’s only one taxi vehicle! So his passengers call him at home to ask for a taxi ride or whatever! Most of them need to be driven to and from the bar, have him pick up a case of beer for them, a little old lady needs a ride to the doctor, etc! Most of the peep in that village are retired, elderly, on welfare or Natives on the reserve in Enderby another village nearby. So most don’t mind spending $$ for a taxi ride as the distances are close but they all tip well so he makes good cash for driving the cab! The downside is he’s on call 6 days a week (he doesn’t drive on Sun) as he hasn’t got a back up driver for himself! Shit had never been to Armstrong but found the little town as kind of homely and nice to visit but kind of find the place a little too quiet for moi!

Also made it to Armstrong 2 more times during the summer as went there when was hoping to go further east in BC a month later as went with a friend to Summerland and then took a back road part way back to Vancouver! Then went thru Armstrong later in the summer when I did a 2 week road trip thru BC but more on that later in this posting! The reason I kept returning to Armstrong was they have a cheese factory which makes some awesome bbq salmon cheese which is to die for cuz it tastes just like bbq salmon so it’s awesome with crackers & beer not that I drink a lot of beer! Also will be returning to that area to camp next summer or whenever as there is still a drive in movie theater in Enderby the little village next door which would be cool to see a movie while camping in the area!

Then in early July a family member who lives in Abu Dhabi got married there to an English dude & they had a wedding party in Abu Dhabi for her friends there! Then in early July had one in Vancouver, Edmonton, London and in a small village in England! So I enjoyed a wedding party in Vancouver and traveled to Edmonton to celebrate a party there with family & friends!

Guess U could feel sorry for me cuz I grew up in Edmonton & still have family and friends there so go back about once a year as always enjoy going there! But after this trip I’ve started to realize that Edmonton is a shitty place to live cuz during the summer they have a lot of heavy rain with strong winds, lightening & thunderstorms so the whole city gets flooded! Then shit after these storms the giant mosquitos attack like it was World War III which is one of the reasons I left that place! The other being the -30 to -40 degree temperatures during the winter! Yeah I know that most peep say at least it’s sunny during these periods while it’s pretty much cloudy and rainy in Vancouver at that time! But shit at least in Vancouver it’s warm and doesn’t rain all the time so I can go for bike rides, run, walk and do things cuz the rain comes straight down as it isn’t windy!!!

One good thing about the wedding parties was got to hang out with my daughter in Abu Dhabi  & son who lives in Eastern Canada! He hurt his knee so we couldn’t do any strenuous hikes but we enjoyed hanging out and going for bike rides! Plus made it out to the beach & eat a few times tho eating out in restaurants aren’t what I usually make a practices of doing!

But shit in my Journey thru Life can never look after my money & other valuables as always seem to give them away to some idiot Drifter who feel needs it more than moi!! But f*ck according to my Mom well guess when my Dad worked as a fisherman he used to give away most of the fish he caught to peep he met who had sob stories!! So guess being a sucker runs in the genes! LOL

But like Winston Churchill said " We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give"!!

So it all works out cuz can't take it with me so been building up my contacts so when I'm broke, down & out well know where to can get free meals (Sikh & Hindu temples) & free places to sleep (Buddist temples) or cheap places to stay & exist cuz have made friends with people who've bin dar dun dat & lived on the street! So when not living like a Bum roaming the World well been building up my contacts & references for that time so can exist Insha'allah!!

So hell my friends and I like to get free meals in the area as went to the Sikh Temple a lot during the summer which is served every day as part of their religion! http://www.yelp.ca/biz/akali-singh-sikh-temple-vancouver So would go there with friends about 2 or 3 times a week! The funny thing was there were both guys and chicks that went with us to the temple as we sat together but we found out later that guys were suppose to sit at one table and chicks at another! lol Then on Sun we could head to the Hindu Temple however it was always busy there so don’t go there very often!!! There’s also a Government assistance office on Fraser & 16 Ave which offers free breakfasts on Mon, Wed & Fri between 10 & 10:30 am! There’s also free meals at the back of the Glad Tiding Church on the east side of Fraser & 20 Ave in Vancouver! So tried these places for meals as love freebies!!! http://citycaucus.com/2012/04/crazy-for-fraser-street/http://citycaucus.com/2012/04/crazy-for-fraser-street/

The summer also was kind of sad as a good friend moved away to work in another place so helped them get ready for their move! http://www.letstalkrelations.com/why-do-we-miss-someone.html http://www.letstalkrelations.com/why-do-we-miss-someone.html But in their place another friend moved back to Vancouver in fact into the East Van area about a dozen blocks from my place which is cool as we hang out a lot since they will be attending UBC for the next couple years!! Then the news of what was happening in Syria was a bit of a downer cuz it makes me kinda sad about what is happening in Syria cuz it's actually a beautiful country to visit!

Also had an awesome time hanging out at a few festivals and one of the most enjoyable for me was the Salish Summer Soltice Festival! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eDtqTpJp_w and the Japanese Powell Street festival but more about that further in this posting! http://www.powellstreetfestival.com/

The weather during the summer was one of the best that can recall in years as it hardly rained so had an awesome time hanging out which is one reason didn’t work too much! On the Aug long weekend f*ckin chased summer with a crazy wicked summer long weekend!l

Fri night got back from hanging out on Van Island !

Sat night got totally wasted at a Reggae Concert (what else whenlistening 2 Reggae?  lol). Then to Lucy's All Night Diner for awesome homemade tomato soup! Topped off with delicious blueberry pie & soft ice cream!! Their homemade soft ice cream fukin rocks as its 2 die for cuz U'll think U died & went 2 Heaven (espec when smokin lol)!! Friend had soup, all day & night breakfast topped off with a ton of soft ice cream & peanut butter- which is f*ckin awesome!! Hell didn't finish until well past 3 am but was fukin well worth it!!

Sunday pigged out (U guessed it) at Japanese Powell Street festival! Then rode bikes for Gelato & around seawall! But had to stop to watch sunset (where else but Sunset Beach)!! Then idiot me brought out my weed & guess my friend (newbie smoker) felt comfortable enuf around moi 2 try some too! So after a toke or 2 my friend realized was too wrecked 2 ride so had to walk bike till got shit together to ride but never happen lol. Hell my fave way to bike is stoned listening 2 music lol but joined friend to walk bikes for ever 2 take a bus after stopping 4 a munchie break!! So fuk didnt get back 2 my place till well past midnight then more munchies & ended crashing my place 4 the duration!

Monday we wanted to head 2 Wreck Beach but fuk slept till afternoon & then was too much hassle 2 get there so went to 3rd Beach instead around 5 to hang for sunset! LOL

Kinda thought of heading to Shambhala Music Festival  http://www.shambhalamusicfestival.com/ but fuk dislike the 9 hr drive to mtns of eastern BC each way! Anyway fuk couldnt get my shit together to appl to work there 4 free entrance like in past cuz who fuk wants 2 pay $300.00 to get in! So shit will prob take my time, weed & head to Nelson & then further east 2 meet bro to camp 4 a week or so!

Hell its tough searching 4 work!! So enjoying summer instead & to cheap out to save $ so can head to South Africa 4 a while well have to camp & ride my bike!!

But did have an opportunity to do some work helping a friend with their company/work but hey since I left my IT job well got to enjoy the good life of just chilling and hanging out enjoying my Life while doing a lot of traveling when can afford it!

So like I mentioned was going to work at the Shambhala Music festival as I’ve done in the past but didn’t want to hurry to go to the festival as would have to be there the day after the Aug long weekend!

So instead of going to the Shambhala Music festival I went on a 2 week road trip thru BC! I checked out a  Rainbow Gathering & Dumpster Diving in Nelson area of Kootenays in BC while Blazing & Driving the Back Roads on an Awesome Road Trip around Amazing BC for a couple weeks – just camping & messing around!!

Yeah camped in far SE part of BC by the US border at Lake Koocanusa (fuckin beautiful camping, lake & weather as slept in my hammock just chillin & smokin). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Koocanusa

Picked up an Israeli hitch hiking to the Rainbow Gathering so while driving & smoking decided to check out the Gathering/Festival near Slocan in Kootenays which had initially been set to happen on northern Vancouver Island
Met some cool peep from all over world & interesting Native/Indigenious people
http://www.google.ca/search?noj=1&site=webhp&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=cfUoUsl75_OJAoaXgdAF&ved=0CCwQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=542&q=images%20of%20native%20people%20in%20Canada
Also met some cool hippie types as learned about nature & environmental stuff   http://www.oilspillsolutions.co.uk/tag/slocan-river/
Then spent couple days in Nelson in Kootenays
or as this shows:

Then headed north thru Naksup (to check their Hot Springs) & to take the free ferry at Needles http://www.google.ca/search?q=images+of+free+ferry+from+needles+bc&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=LvwoUt__LKa0igKmiYCgCQ&ved=0CCwQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=542
Then took some back roads across the Monashee Pass http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monashee_Pass to get to Armstrong to see a couple of friends! Then met other friends near Shuswap & then drove on back roads to the Yellowhead Hwy to Little Fort & west on back roads to 100 Mile House http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Columbia_Highway_24 to go down the Cariboo Hwy to Clinton to take back road over mtn to Mt Currie to camp near Hot Springs!

Then got held up all day for an Ironman Race from Pemberton to Whistler! But made it to Squamish to camp before heading back home to East Van!

Wow the weather & countryside were just beautiful!! But what was even more beautiful was out of cell phone range for a couple weeks!!

Realized chillin with some Native peep made this Trip as amazing as any Trip Over Seas!!! But will find out in Oct as hope to head to the southern part of Africa & will prob hang with some Indigenous Africans for a while!!

F*CK ONLY IN VANCOUVER CAN u GET A $250 TICKET FOR SMOKING ON THE BEACH!!! But hell NOT for smoking Weed but just for smoking – tho of course we’re smoking weed cuz after all we are in Vansterdam!!!

Cuz hell in any other part of the world this person would have got busted instead for smoking Weed on the beach – NOT just for smoking! But in Vancouver they don’t care if U’r smoking Weed, Hash, Opium, Crack, etc as U’ll get busted just for inhaling shit as they’re trying to reduce smoking in public like on beaches & parks!!

Hell felt bad as had just passed a joint to this chick who was about to have a toke when the Park Ranger came along & busted her!! But sure glad it was her not me cuz just got a $167 ticket 4 forgetting to put on my seat belt, a $107 ticket for not changing the address on my driver’s licence & just b4 that got a $196 ticket for having my front licence plate sitting on the dash not attached to the truck!! Duh so no wonder having trouble saving $$ to travel again!!!

But at least in all my travels and journeys I find that I drink less and prob smoke a little more than most peep! Sure glad don’t drink too much especially when I came across a video showing how stupid a person looks when they drink too much!!

So I’m hoping that my next journey thru BC will take me thru more northern BC up to Prince Rupert and maybe to Haida Gwaii as a friend is driving to Prince Rupert in Sept so hope to join them to split the cost but really want to see Haidi Gwaii but time will tell if I get there insha’allah  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haida_Gwaii

Hope to buy a ticket to the southern part of Africa (South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland, Losetho, Zimbabwe, Malawi) https://www.google.ca/search?q=map+of+south+africa+countries&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=CbdNUsfsDuHqiQLmhoDgBw&ved=0CCwQsAQ&biw=1218&bih=635&dpr=1 & the island of Madagascar http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/africa/mg.htm as have always wanted to see the countries there but have never got past the countries in the north as something always seem to come up! So yeah hope to be going this fall & winter for a while! insha’allah
